We had a great winter with lots of snow. Most of the drainages here in southwest Montana got well above average snow pack. This should mean good things for the coming summer. Good fishing on more rivers later into the summer. A good snowpack keeps all of the rivers fishing better into the hot mid summer months and consequently spreads the crowds over a larger number of good fish able options. Rivers like the Madison and the Missouri should have a good amount of water in the reservoirs to sustain them through the summer and freestone rivers like the Jefferson and Yellowstone should be less fickle in the dog days of hopper season.
